This month’s spotlight is a New York Bestseller entitled, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem. It is a book cleverly written with a window into a Forbidden World

Author, Jillian Lauren of Some Girls: My Life Inside the Harem describes her day-to-day life inside the walls of the Harem, and the dynamics of her relationship with Prince Jefri.

Some Girls: My Life in a Harem is a beautifully written and fascinating story about how she, a girl from suburban New Jersey became an international concubine and emerged from the experience a stronger and wiser woman. I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. I was totally swept away by Lauren’s writing. Her story is eye-opening and moving and I HIGHLY recommend it.

At eighteen, Jillian Lauren was an NYU theater school dropout chasing down a tip about an upcoming audition: a rich businessman in Singapore would pay pretty American girls $20,000 if they stayed for two weeks to spice up his parties. Independent, rebellious, and estranged from her adoptive parents, Jillian was soon on a plane to Borneo, where she would spend the next eighteen months in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah, youngest brother of the Sultan of Brunei. She became one of the first Western women to infiltrate this modern-day take on an ancient institution and found herself enmeshed in an unexpected love affair with the restless prince.

With SOME GIRLS, Jillian Lauren portrays the complexity of her experience and presents readers with more than just a salacious page-turner, but a story of resilience, redemption and forgiveness. She poignantly traces how a struggling teenager learned to believe in herself, find the courage to meet her birth mother, and eventually adopt a baby boy.

Jillian Lauren is an extremely talented writer and Some Girls is a must-read.

Do yourself a favor and take an opportunity to read this book. I highly recommend this book to any one especially any woman, mother, or daughter who wants to take a trip into the forbidden world promoting the ancient customs of being in a harem. Thank you very much for joining me here as I share this month’s Author Spotlight, showcasing author’s who invite, ignite and inspire CHANGE!

In honor of one of the past greats to whom I owe so much, I have a gift for you. It is The Optimist’s Creed, written by Christian D. Larson almost 100 years ago. As you read this wonderful piece of writing you will discover its total harmony with the teachings of The Secret. The words have been modified slightly to make them even more powerful. Be sure to read the words “I Promise Myself” at the beginning of every new line and you will maximize all the power of The Secret. Click here to read or print your copy of The-Optimists-Creed

I welcome your feedback and trust you’ll return soon to pop a squat here at The Authors Cafe to relax and stay a while with me.
